3x Fuel Rewards at Stop & Shop on Mastercard GCs October 5 – 11 2018

East coast-based Stop & Shop grocery stores (and likely their sister grocery stores Giant and Martin) are offering 3x Fuel Rewards on Mastercard gift card purchases from 10/5/2018 – 10/11/2018.

They normally don’t offer any Fuel Rewards on GC purchases so we have to wait for heightened promotions like these.

1,500 Fuel Rewards can be redeemed for $1.50 off per gallon up to 20 gallons. So potentially a $30 savings for 1,500 fuel rewards making Fuel Rewards worth “almost/up to” 2 cents a piece.

Stop & Shop locations will sell $5,000 in gift cards per visit with ID.

Combined with the number of credit cards that handsomely reward spend at grocery stores (like this one and this one) this has become a more interesting opportunity than drug stores.

CVS and Walgreens locations near me don’t sell Mastercard GCs these days, so this is particularly interesting if your best method for liquidating gift cards is through Plastiq for 2.5%. Especially since Vanilla VGCs don’t work with Plastiq.

Up to the point you can use Fuel Rewards (they expire within 30 days of when they’re earned) they go a long way towards supplementing fees.

Give it a look if you’re in the Stop & Shop area if you’ve got a lot of grocery spend coming up.

    1. I’ve seen that before early on in a promotion cycle/for specific types of V/MCGCs.
I suspect that sometimes they forget to code certain types of products for the promotion.

I always buy at customer service and if the points don’t post correctly ask for a manual adjustment.

I tried just now and did get 3x Fuel Rewards as expected.
Try the rose gold Metabank MCGCs.
They have the dual benefit of being liquidable through Plastiq without requiring online registration.
      It’s a 2.5% fee so you can make a $487.80 payment to evenly drain a $500 MCGC.
